1. Ricordo per prima cosa la CITIZEN INITIATIVE europea "PsychedeliCare" che intende "promuovere un accesso equo, tempestivo, a prezzi abbordabili, sicuro e legale alle innovative terapie assistite da psichedelici".
L'iniziativa ha bisogno di raccogliere 1.000.000 di firme entro il 14 gennaio 2026. Si può firmare sul sito europeo

2. PREMESSA.
Faccio notare che UNO DEI PIU' GRAVI PROBLEMI COLLATERALI GENERATI DAL PROIBIZIONISMO è stata l'infinita serie di OSTACOLI POSTI ALLA RICERCA SCIENTIFICA E ALLA PRATICA MEDICA per quanto riguarda le "sostanze proibite".
- in primo luogo, sull'uso corretto degli OPPIOIDI, in particolare nella terapia del dolore. E basta studiare le origini e l'evoluzione dell'attuale e tragica "opioid crisis" in USA per capire il terribile peso delle distorsioni, delle paure, dei pregiudizi e dell'ignoranza generati dal PROIBIZIONISMO, che non hanno risparmiato nemmeno i medici.
- poi sugli USI MEDICI DELLA CANNABIS, totalmente NEGATI in USA e nel mondo a partire dal 1937 (anno della proibizione, grazie al sig. Anslinger), e riscoperti, ma con immensa fatica e immensi problemi, solo dopo la scoperta del "sistema cannabinoide endogeno" (Matsuda, Mechoulam e altri, primi anni '990). E questo nonostante la Cannabis fosse stata usata a scopo medico per più di 1000 anni (fino, in ultimo, alla "Tintura" e "Estratto" di Cannabis indica inclusi nella Farmacopea Ufficiale Italiana dalla 1a edizione del 1892). - E infine, I DANNI DEL PROIBIZIONISMO hanno riguardato anche le moltissime SOSTANZE PSICHEDELICHE e "EMPATOGENE", che solo da pochissimi anni vedono riconosciuto un possibile ruolo in medicina. Sostanze che sono sia i principi attivi di "droghe" naturali (funghi, cactus, ayahuasca, iboga,...), note da secoli ai curanderos/sciamani/stregoni ecc. di molte culture in tutti i continenti, sia sostanze moderne "di sintesi" (LSD, ketamina, esketamina, MDMA,...).
Su queste sostanze, solo da poco e con grande difficoltà si stanno studiando in profondità le loro interessantissime proprietà farmacologiche e si stanno indagando i potenziali usi terapeutici. Le principali aree di studio sono: depressione maggiore (in particolare le forme resistenti ai farmaci di uso corrente); disturbo da stress post-traumatico (PTSD); dipendenze; disturbo bipolare; disturbi ossessivo-compulsivi; disturbi del comportamento alimentare; aiuto psicologico nel "fine vita"; ecc.
3. Mi sembra inutile tentare di riassumere in poche righe la storia e la ricerca attuale sui potenziali usi terapeutici di queste sostanze, mentre ritengo più interessante fornire alcuni LINK interessanti e una buona BIBLIOGRAFIA (solo libri).

4. Il "fine vita" è uno dei temi più importanti e difficili, e penso che sia molto positivo che oggi si cominci a discuterne serenamente e apertamente. Anche perché OGGI, quella che una volta era "morte naturale" può essere molto procrastinata grazie a terapie avanzate e tecnologie "di supporto" estreme. Purtroppo non sempre la "qualità di vita" assicurata in queste condizioni può essere a lungo accettabile per i pazienti, e qui si innestano i discorsi su "accanimento terapeutico" da un lato e suicidio assistito/eutanasia dall'altro.
I farmaci "psichedelici" (in particolare LSD e psilocibina) non hanno effetti significativi su nessuna funzione vitale, e anche ad alte dosi non dimostrano tossicità "fisica", mentre spesso - con l'aiuto e la guida di persone esperte e qualificate - offrono profonde esperienze psicologiche o spirituali che si sono dimostrate anche capaci di alleviare la paura e l'angoscia della malattia e della morte.
L'LSD è stato impiegato con risultati positivi nell'accompagnamento di malati terminali fin dai primi anni '960. Vedi p.es. il caso di Aldous Huxley, uno dei primi "sperimentatori" di sostanze psichedeliche (vedi sotto, 6.5), che sentendosi giunto al suo ultimo giorno chiese una dose di LSD; e gli studi di E.C. Kast, Sydney Cohen, Stanislav Grof, A.A. Kurland e altri)
